EIA reports that 19% of California's electricity came from non-hydro renewable sources in the first 9 months of 2013. In 2008, non-hydro renewables provided 12%. By comparison, America currently gets 6% of its power from non-hydro renewable energy resources but that number is growing rapidly as well.

The portion of California's electricity coming from non-hydro renewable energy has increased 60% in just 5 years. California is showing that renewable energy can provide even today 30% of our most populous state's power. That is a powerful example.
